कविता: अगर इस जनम में

अगर इस जनम में

किस्मत ने तुम्हारा साथ दिया तो

एक खिड़की खुलेगी

लड़ाई के मैदान में

दो सेनाओं के बीच,

और जब सिपाही

खिड़की से झाँकेंगे तो

उन्हें दुश्मन नजर नहीं आएंगे,

वे वहाँ अपने बचपन को देखेंगे,

और वे लड़ना बंद कर देंगे

घर लौट जाएंगे

एक मीठी नींद सोने के लिए,

और जब उठेंगे तो पाएंगे

धरती के घाव भर गए हैं।

Voices in Wartime

This poem by fourth-grader Cameron Penny was read by Marie Howe in the very beautiful film, “Voices in Wartime,” directed by Rick King and distributed by Cinema Libre Studio. Sometimes harsh and brutal and sometimes very moving, this film tells a personal story of war through poetry and the spoken word from the point of view of the soldier and from the point of view of those at home.

A window will appear on a battlefield between two armies

And when the soldiers look into the window

They don’t see their enemies

They see themselves as children

And they stop fighting

And go home and go to sleep

When they wake up, the land is well again.”
